DS Dennis Frampton is getting used to life without his old boss DCI Mackie, and managing to hide how much he hates being in charge of Dorset's Major Crimes Investigation Team. Above all, he must make sure no one knows he's still seeking Mackie's advice on cases. But then Mackie doesn't show up to a meeting, and a body is found below the cliffs a few miles away. When Dennis discovers the body is his old friend and mentor, his world is thrown upside down. Did Mackie kill himself, or was he pushed? Is Dennis's new boss trying to hush things up?
