Mountains of England and Wales: Vol 2 England (Nuttall John)(Paperback / softback)

England has 254 Nuttall summits, every hill over 2000ft that rises at least 50ft above its surroundings. They span a remarkable range of landscape and character, from the high fell ridges of the Lake District to the remote moorland of the Cheviots, the broad plateau of the North Pennines, the limestone country of the Yorkshire Dales, the gritstone edges of the Peak District and the granite tors of Dartmoor. Written by John and Anne Nuttall, the walkers who defined the list, this Cicerone guidebook covers all 254 English summits across 60 routes, with detailed descriptions, maps, and drawings for every top. The third edition has been updated throughout and includes the most recently confirmed summit, Calf Top in the Yorkshire Dales, which was promoted to mountain status following an update to the Ordnance Survey geoid model. The 254 English Nuttall summits are organised into 13 chapters by region, from the seven Lake District sections to the Cheviots, North Pennines, Yorkshire Dales, Peak District and Dartmoor, making it straightforward to plan days out by areaHighlights include Blencathra, Great Gable, Coniston Old Man, Pillar and Helvellyn in the Lake District, Kinder Scout and Bleaklow in the Peak District, Cross Fell in the North Pennines and High Willhays on DartmoorDetailed route descriptions cover routes of varying difficulty, from broad ridgeline walks to more demanding terrain, with clear guidance on what to expect on each summit; Pil
