Moderno Contemporâneo Popular Brasileiro - Lorenzo Mammi

The perspective of Brazilian art collector Vilma Eid is presented in this selection of artists and works, beautifully photographed by Nelson Kon. Over the past 40 years, Vilma has dedicated herself to promoting and preserving what is still referred to as Brazilian folk art—an immemorial imagination; neither entirely rural nor fully urban, but rather the result of a constant movement from one pole to the other. "In Brazil, the reception of what is usually called outsider art, in the last forty years, is inseparably linked to the figure of Vilma Eid [...] Vilma is not only responsible for an intentional exploration of Brazilian indigenous and self-taught artistic production: she also contributed, in a determining fashion, to a change of perspective in the way this production is seen." — Lorenzo Mammì.
