Artists Series: Henry Moore - Eleanor Clayton

Henry Moore (1898–1986) is one of Britain's most famous modern sculptors, who redefined what monumental art could be. By moving away from traditional commemorative forms toward organic, abstract shapes, he explored the relationship between human figures and the natural world, and transformed the landscape of public sculpture in the post-war period. This introduction offers an incisive look at the life and work of Moore. It follows his development as an artist who was endlessly curious about the visual world around him and whose commitment to exploring form and material created powerfully affecting works that are deeply connected to universal human experiences. His passion for sharing his pioneering vision with the public created a legacy for modern sculpture that continues to shape how we encounter art in our everyday environment.
