This Is The Jam World - Art Maldon - diskuze

In an era when punk’s raw furycollided with new wave’s sophistication, The Jam carved out their ownterritory. They were modernists who looked backward for inspiration, angryyoung men in tailored suits. Their eighteen consecutive Top 40 hits and fournumber-one singles tell only part of the story. The deeper narrative lies inhow Paul Weller, Bruce Foxton, and Rick Buckler transformed suburbanfrustration into universal anthems, how they built a devoted following throughrelentless touring and genuine connection with their audience, and how theychose artistic integrity over commercial security. This is the story of a band thatrefused to compromise, from their early days playing Woking’s working men’sclubs to the top of the British charts it remains one of rock’s most purposefultrajectories—a straight line drawn with absolute conviction from obscurity toimmortality.
