Psychogeography of Education - K. Susmitha, T. S. Leelavati

This book explores the ways in which spaces of learning and growth, both physical, social, and symbolic, shape cognition, emotion, behavior, and educational outcomes. With a combination of education, architectural, psychological, sustainability, and digital studies perspectives, it situates learning environments as dynamic agents that influence the development of learners, institutional culture, as well as the values in society. The book provides a systematic examination of learning environments in traditional classrooms, inclusive campuses, sustainable environments, as well as digitally enabled environments. The key aspects include interdisciplinary frameworks, conceptually rich chapters on spatial pedagogy, environmental comfort, inclusivity, biophilic design, and smart campuses, and critical discussions about space in relation to well-being, equity, and learning effectiveness. Theoretical foundation and up-to-date design knowledge enhance competence in decision-making and practice. It allows readers to conceptualize, design, and analyze learning environments that are conducive to personal development and social responsibility. This book will benefit academics, postgraduates, researchers, architects, planners, and policymakers in education, educational psychology, architecture, urban studies, sustainability, and instructional design.
