Mirandolina - Marina Carr - diskuze

- It's dangerous to play with a young man's pride. - And what about a young woman's pride? In modern-day Dublin, a young woman works in an Italian restaurant, navigating a path between the male admirers who surround her, seeking to bend her to their will. Watched by the ghosts of her family, armed with wit and intelligence, Mirandolina fights back. Marina Carr's rich re-imagining of Carlo Goldoni's La Locandiera explores power and patriarchal violence as they echo down generations. A Teatro Stabile del Veneto - Teatro Nazionale, Abbey Theatre, and Croatian National Theatre - HNK Rijeka co-production, Mirandolina was first performed in Ireland at the Abbey Theatre, Dublin, in August 2026, in an Italian translation by Monica Capuani. The script is published here in its original English.
