Having reached the finals of the Capital One Cup and the Europa League the previous season, before finishing eighth in the Premier League, expectations were high for Liverpool in Jrgen Klopp's first full season in charge. With new signings Jol Matip, Georginio Wijnaldum and Sadio Man, the club were able to secure fourth place in the Premier League on the last day of the season and gain Champions League qualification for the first time in three years.
