The survival of the Tibetans is a general question of humanity. If the Tibetan nation were not to survive, it would be a loss for all mankind. The Czech Republic and our modern history have much in common with Tibet, which is also described in this book. There is a strong bond between our peoples, first created and strengthened over 20 years by our President Václav Havel. Th e democratic part of our political representation and civil society identifi es with Havel's legacy and maintains his values, principles and policies. The aim of this book is to show why it makes sense to care about Tibet and why defending Tibet is a test of the quality of democracy in the free liberal world.
