Ferghettina Franciacorta Saten 2021

Drink it now or cellar for up to 10 years. No need to decant. Founded in the early 1990s in Adro, in the province of Brescia, the Ferghettina winery belongs to the Gatti family and is now managed by Laura and Matteo, children of founder Roberto Gatti. The estate boasts approximately 200 hectares of vineyards and takes its name from the place where the winery is located. The bottles are characterized by a unique feature: their square-bottom takes advantage of the effect of yeast autolysis during aging. Ferghettina Brut Satèn is a wine made exclusively from Chardonnay grapes grown on the estate's vineyards at approximately 250 meters above sea level. Here, in the heart of the Franciacorta wine region, the vineyards enjoy a Mediterranean climate, protected by the Alps from cold northerly winds and Atlantic disturbances, and benefited by the mitigating effect of nearby Lake Iseo. After harvesting and fermenting in stainless steel, the wine undergoes a second fermentation in the bottle and then ages on the lees for 36 months. The result is a delicate and fragrant wine with a bright straw-yellow color and fine bubbles. On the nose, it reveals a fresh and lively aromatic profile with notes of citrus and wildflowers, followed by brioche hints. On the palate, it is elegant and velvety, with a creamy texture and a refreshing, well-balanced acidity. The finish is long and delicately citrusy. It's a graceful wine that pairs well with fish tartare, sushi, and fresh cheeses.
