Challenges 3 covers virtually all Waystage specifications (A.2) and quite a few of which were already covered in Challenges 2.Challenges 3 also looks at quite a few lower Threshold descriptors (B.1.1). For a full breakdown of the CEFR descriptors covered in Challenges 3 see www.longman.com/challenges/pdfs/cef/cef-level3.pdf General theme In this level the theme of challenge in such topics as the achievements of talented women in history, dealing with teenage problems and fighting against tyranny. The characters in this level are at a school of performing arts: they have to do auditions, perform a piece of music and a song, make a film and give a presentation. Coursebook structure The level is divided into ten core modules. At the end of the book there is a magazine section (Time Out!) and a word bank organised by lexical features (multi-part verbs, prefixes, suffixes, compounds, etc.). Students can use this section to do activities in the coursebook and as a reference to revise and increase their own vocabulary (see table of contents enclosed).
