During lockdown, Sue Rose began learning Hebrew and, as she became fascinated by the etymology of the letters, this sequence responding to the 22 Hebrew letters took shape, taking her deeper into the symbolism of each letter. The result is a playful and investigative meditation on language, meaning and sound, and a celebration of the cultural heritage that the poet grew up within and alongside. In a challenging world, how we navigate faith journeys can be difficult, but these poems offer an exploration of identity, a paean to the history and origins of an ancient people together with a commitment to peace and mutual respect between peoples and nations.
